WEGNER LAND

KÖNDER'S OWN DESIGN ICON

Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007) was one of Denmark's most influential furniture designers and a central figure in Danish modernism. He is particularly known for his elegant and functional chairs, where craftsmanship, comfort and aesthetics merge into a higher unity.

Wegner designed over 500 chairs during his career, including the iconic Wishbone Chair. His approach was simple: a piece of furniture should not only look good – it should also function perfectly in use.

Today, his designs are world-renowned and considered timeless classics within Danish design.

Design and art experiences

Art Museum @ Bjarke Mattesen-12

Art museum and Wegner exhibition

Tønder Kunstmuseum is a modern art museum with a focus on Danish and Northern European art from the 20th century onwards. The museum was founded in 1972 and is today part of Museum Sønderjylland.

A special feature is the iconic water tower, which today houses an exhibition of furniture by Hans J. Wegner – where you even have the opportunity to try the chairs yourself.

A refuge designed by Børge Morgensen

Løgumkloster Refugium is a very special place where tranquility, immersion and Danish design go hand in hand. The refuge is one of the few places in Denmark that is still furnished as it was in the late 1950s – with furniture and solutions created by Børge Mogensen and Hans J. Wegner.
