In the small marsh town of Højer, close to the Wadden Sea, something very special happens every year. When ARTjam 2026 runs away from May 30 to June 6, the city is transformed into a living work of art, where creativity, craftsmanship and nature merge.
ARTjam is not a traditional art exhibition – it is an experience in motion. Here, artists from all over the world gather to work side by side in the open air, while the audience can follow the process up close. Large pieces of wood, often oak, are transformed into unique sculptures over the course of a week, created with chainsaws, chisels and lots of precision.
What's special about ARTjam is the presence. As a visitor, you get the opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions and experience how ideas develop from raw material to finished works. It gives a completely different understanding of art – and a respect for the craftsmanship behind it.
At the same time, the surroundings help to make the experience unique. Højer and the marshland surrounding the city form a calm and authentic setting where art and nature go hand in hand. The light, the wind and the open horizon become part of the atmosphere and leave their mark on both artists and visitors.
When the week is over, a series of new sculptures remain as lasting traces of the festival. They become part of the area and can be experienced long after the artists have moved on.
ARTjam in Højer is therefore not just an event – it is an invitation to experience art up close, in the middle of nature and at eye level with those who create it.
