Bredebro is a charming railway town in Southern Jutland with approximately 1,436 inhabitants (2025) located 14 km north of Tønder and 10 km west of Løgumkloster. The town was founded around a ford over the Brede Å and became an important junction with the establishment of the railway in 1887–88. . Today, Bredebro is known as the hometown of the global shoe manufacturer ECCO, which was founded here in 1963 and is still headquartered in the city. .
In the 19th century, Bredebro and the neighboring town of Brede were known as centers for lace production – especially Tønder lace.
Brede Church, located in the northeastern part of the city, dates back to the early 13th century and was rebuilt in 1722.
The town is located close to Brede Å, a popular area for fishing, canoeing and nature experiences, and has direct access to the Wadden Sea National Park via marshland and good trails.
Bredebro Sports Center with sports halls, outdoor pool and campsite is popular among both locals and visitors
The city has annual events such as city festival, Open City Night and Ringridning, which provide an authentic local experience.
