Havneby

Havneby – Rømø's harbor life, Wadden Sea and the ferry to Sylt

Havneby is located in the far south on Rømø, where sea, marsh and holiday atmosphere meet. The town is known for its cozy harbor, the lively environment around the ferry port – and as an obvious starting point for experiences in the Wadden Sea National Park. Here you can feel the North Sea in the air, watch the tides change the landscape and enjoy the tranquility between water, dikes and open spaces.

Havneby is a natural hub on the island: easy to get to, easy to experience – and perfect as a start for both short excursions and longer vacation days.

Havneby and the Rømø dam

The port environment – Rømø's small gathering point

Havneby feels like a natural meeting place on the island. There is always something to look at: boats, ferries, tides and people on their way out into nature or back home.

The tides – nature's changing scene

In Havneby, the Wadden Sea is never the same twice. At low tide, the landscape opens up, and at high tide, the water changes the entire atmosphere. This makes the area perfect for “going for a walk without a destination” – and just experiencing.
