Ballum – marsh, Wadden Sea and true West Jutland tranquility

Ballum is a small, atmospheric village in the middle of the marshes close to the Wadden Sea, where nature, culture and tranquility merge. Here, open spaces, old farms and historic buildings meet with a landscape that changes character with the tides and the seasons.

Ballum is also known for having many small suburban towns named after Ballum. For example. Vesterende-Ballum, Østerende-Ballum, Bådsbøl-Ballum (the largest), Husum-Ballum, Rejsby-Ballum, Buntje-Ballum, Nørrehus-Ballum, Harknag-Ballum

Ballum has roots dating back to the Middle Ages and has been characterized by marsh farming and life close to the sea for centuries. The old farms, dikes and church tell stories of storm surges, hard work and community in the marsh.
