Havneby Strand, located on the Rømø's eastern coast near the harbour, is an idyllic sandy beach bordering the picturesque Wadden Sea. Due to the soft, sandy bottom and proximity to the Wadden Sea's unique ecosystem, this location is less suitable for traditional bathing as the surface is not firm, which can make it challenging to move into the water.
During low tide, however, the beach reveals its true beauty and invites long walks hundreds of meters out from the shoreline. On these tours, visitors can discover the hidden treasures of the Wadden Sea, including rich oyster beds that reveal themselves a short distance from the beach's edge.
The beach, sheltered by the harbor, offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich wildlife of the Wadden Sea. With the right tools, both children and adults can go exploring for crabs and other fascinating mudflats at low tide, creating an exciting and educational experience for the whole family.
This scenic area is a wonderful example of Denmark's natural heritage and offers a unique chance to experience the country's unique mudflat environment up close. Havneby Strand is thus the perfect place for nature lovers and adventurous souls who want to immerse themselves in the tranquility and beauty that only the Wadden Sea can offer.
