Personal shops and good business acumen
Along the pedestrian street you will find a diverse selection of shops – and here the soul is at the center. Many shops are family-owned and have existed for generations. There are fashion stores with well-known brands, but also small specialty shops with applied arts, wine, cheese, books, antiques and local delicacies.
Here you don't just shop – you are made welcome. The staff takes their time, and you often get a story or good advice in the bag. You can see a comprehensive store guide at Visit Rømø & Tønder.
A pedestrian street that follows the course of the year
Tønder has a special flair for atmosphere – and you can feel it all year round. The pedestrian street is decorated according to the season, and especially in the run-up to Christmas, the city transforms into a fairy tale. It's an experience for the whole family, and many visitors return year after year. You can see this year's program at romo-tonder.dk/julemarked.
But there is also life and experiences the rest of the year. In the summer months there are small concerts, craft markets and cultural events, while Tønder Festival in August attracts music lovers from all over the world. The pedestrian street serves as a natural gathering point before and after the concerts and contributes to the very special festival atmosphere.
