48 km of river from the heart of Southern Jutland to the Wadden Sea coast.

Brede Å

Brede Å, located in Southern Jutland, is a scenic stream with a length of approx. 48 km, stretching from Løgumkloster to the Wadden Sea at Ballum Lock. The area around Brede Å offers a rich wildlife and is a favorite place for angling, as the brook is home to species such as salmon, sea trout, eel, bill, pike and sturgeon. Historically, the area has been subject to straightening for the benefit of agriculture, but parts of the river's original course have been restored to preserve the natural environment.

For tourists and those interested in the outdoors, Brede Å offers a number of recreational opportunities. There are a total of four canoe routes on the stream, which vary in length and duration, and make it possible to explore the scenic stream from the water. These tours range from 2-3 hours to longer tours of 3-6 hours. It is also possible to plan multi-day trips with overnight stays in Løgumkloster and/or Bredebro, which gives a complete experience of the area's natural beauty.

The natural restoration has meant that an almost 20 km long stretch of Brede Å has been restored to its natural, meandering course. This has helped to improve the area's biodiversity and recreational value. In Bredeådalen, a protected area, there are several hiking trails that offer quiet nature experiences.

With these many offers, Brede Å appeals both to nature lovers, anglers and canoe enthusiasts who want to experience the best of South Jutland's scenic landscapes.
