Experience the breathtaking view of the Wadden Sea from Hjerpsted bakkeø, where you can see the islands of Herring and Rømø in clear weather. This unique stretch of coastline, free of man-made dikes, shows the power of nature over thousands of years with storm surges that have shaped cliffs up to 13m high. A walking route starts at Hjerpsted church, follows the coast south to Emmerlev Klev and returns through Tingdal Plantage, offering a unique nature experience along one of Denmark's most dynamic coasts.
You cannot swim at the beach as such, as the bottom is thick mud from the Wadden Sea, but you can take wonderful walks along the beach and enjoy the beautiful view.
The beach is often used for gathering oysters, as oyster banks are found a few hundred meters from the coast. Read more about oyster safaris here.
