With its length of 48 m, the church is Denmark's longest village church from Romanesque times. It was built in two rounds in the period around 1200-1250, where the chancel and apse were built first, and later the nave. In the years 1854-1857, the church was restored and rebuilt to its current form. The church is leaded, and the roof structure is from the 13th century.

The tower, which is from approx. 1500, was built in the late Gothic style and is of brick. The tower is of the Tørninglen type, which is widespread throughout the former Tørninglen Len. It has a tall, square spire with small gables facing every corner of the world. The tower has been renewed several times, and in 1854 a new porch was erected in the tower.

The church has three bells, one of which is Gothic from around 1350, and the two are reunion bells.
