Bachmann's Watermill

Bachmann's Watermill

Bachmanns Mølle, is the oldest industrial company in Tønder. The mill is already mentioned in the year 1436. Originally, the mill was built as a grain mill for the castle / Borgen Tønderhus.

In 1799, CN Bachmann leased the mill, and since then the mill has been run by the family. The newer part of the mill burned in 1893, but was rebuilt, and until 1955 the mill was still in use as a hydropower supplier.

The mill is nowadays used for various musical events, including in connection with the Tønder Festival. Can only be viewed from the outside.
