Spidsbjerg - Rømø

In the heart of the open heathland near Kirkeby Plantage, you will find Spidsbjerg, one of the highest points on Rømø and one of the island's most popular viewpoints. This 19-metre-high dune hill has been shaped by wind and sand over centuries, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience Rømø's varied nature from above.

To reach the summit, follow a scenic hiking trail through heather-clad dunes and heath. The final stretch leads up a staircase with approximately 50 steps, which was constructed to protect the fragile vegetation from erosion.

From the top, the landscape opens up in all directions. To the west, you can glimpse the North Sea; to the south, you can see Havneby, the ferry to Sylt, and the German island of Sylt on the horizon. To the north, the view extends over Kirkeby Plantage and the Rømø Dam, and on clear days, you can even spot Esbjerg far to the northeast.

Spidsbjerg is one of Rømø's ancient dunes and is considered one of the island's highest natural points alongside Høstbjerg and Stagebjerg. The area around the hill offers beautiful dune heath with heather, small wetlands, and rich birdlife, making the trip an experience all year round.
