About the experience

Markus Knuskrammer – the new troll in Sparekasseskoven in Løgumkloster

Løgumkloster has welcomed a new and very special resident. Tucked away among the trees in Sparekasseskoven, the large wooden troll Markus Knuskrammer has moved in, inviting locals and visitors alike to embark on a nature adventure.

The troll was created by the world-renowned Danish artist Thomas Dambo, famous for his impressive giant trolls built from recycled wood and natural materials. Markus Knuskrammer was unveiled in June 2026 and is troll number 178 in Dambo’s global series of trolls.

Built from the forest itself

What makes Markus Knuskrammer so unique is that he is largely crafted from materials found in the area around Løgumkloster. His hair is made from branches from Sparekasseskoven, while his head consists partly of recycled larch wood. In this way, the troll becomes a natural part of the woods, telling a story of sustainability and creative recycling.

A new attraction in the wild

The troll has settled in Sparekasseskoven, also known as Åved Plantage. The forest was originally established by the local savings bank in the late 19th century and is today a popular spot for walks, exercise, and nature experiences.

With Markus Knuskrammer, the area has gained a new attraction that blends art, nature, and storytelling. Visitors can explore the woods and stumble upon the friendly giant sitting peacefully among the trees. The troll is designed to spark curiosity in both children and adults, adding an extra dimension to a day out in nature.

Part of an international troll universe

Thomas Dambo’s trolls can be found in several countries today, drawing thousands of visitors every year. The trolls are known for their imaginative stories and their message of protecting nature and using resources wisely. Markus Knuskrammer has now joined this international universe, putting Løgumkloster even more firmly on the map as an exciting destination in Southern Jutland.

An experience for the whole family

A visit to Markus Knuskrammer is much more than just viewing a sculpture. It is a chance to experience the nature of Sparekasseskoven, follow the winding paths through the woods, and let your imagination run wild. For families, the visit can become a treasure hunt for the hidden giant, while adults can enjoy the beautiful harmony between art and nature.

With his location in the heart of the forest and his impressive scale, Markus Knuskrammer has already become a new landmark for Løgumkloster – a must-visit for anyone who loves adventure, nature, and creative experiences.
