Museum Sønderjylland – Højer Mølle
Højer Mølle, dating back to 1857, is both a museum and a beautifully preserved cultural environment situated on the edge of Marsken – a stunning cultural landscape where the struggle against the water has shaped people and buildings for centuries. As Northern Europe's tallest Dutch windmill, featuring grain stores, the miller’s residence, and a charming mill garden, it offers fascinating stories about the mill's history and mechanics. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Tøndermarsken and Vadehavet from the mill, take a peaceful stroll through the mill garden, and enjoy refreshments in the café or the cozy garden surroundings.
In the two old grain stores, you can discover stories about the history of Marsken and visit a climate lab tailored for families. Here, through an interactive exhibition, you can explore how water has impacted the local area.
