Havneby beach
Havneby Strand, located on the eastern coast of Rømø near the harbor, is an idyllic sandy beach bordering the picturesque Vadehavet. Due to the soft, sandy bottom and the proximity to the unique ecosystem of the Vadehavet, this spot is less suitable for traditional swimming, as the ground is not firm, which can make it challenging to walk out into the water.
At low tide, however, the beach reveals its true beauty and invites long walks hundreds of meters out from the coastline. During these walks, visitors can discover the hidden treasures of the Vadehavet, including rich oyster beds that reveal themselves a short distance from the shore.
The beach, sheltered by the harbor, offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich wildlife of the Vadehavet. With the right tools, both children and adults can go exploring for crabs and other fascinating Vadehavet creatures at low tide, creating an exciting and educational experience for the whole family.
This scenic area is a wonderful example of Denmark's natural heritage and offers a unique chance to experience the country's unique Vadehavet environment up close. Havneby Strand is thus the perfect place for nature lovers and adventurous souls who wish to immerse themselves in the tranquility and beauty that only the Vadehavet can offer.
