Sønderstrand on Rømø, one of Denmark's westernmost islands in the Wadden Sea, is known for its impressive size and remarkable location. Rømø, connected to the mainland by a dam, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea National Park. Sønderstrand is located on the southern part of the island and is famous for its wide and open coastline. The beach is one of the widest in Europe, giving visitors access to vast expanses of sand that stretch several kilometers out into the landscape and offer plenty of space, even on busy days. The exact size can vary with the tide, but Sønderstrand is known to have up to several hundred meters and sometimes kilometers from the dunes to the water's edge at low tide, creating a perfect landscape for all kinds of beach and wind sports activities.

The 80% of the beach is completely flat and very hard, so everyone can ride it. In the wet months, however, the beach can be completely flooded.
