Skærbæk is mentioned for the first time in history in 1292, but the city's trade traditions go back to the old West Jutland expressway, and thanks to the many specialty shops, the city is also today an attractive trading city. The city is known for its blanket school, where local women around 1900 produced the famous Skærbæktæpper, considered as a main work of Art Nouveau, for Hjem Oldtidspark and for the many leisure and cultural services in the cutting-edge center.
