In and around Tønder there are 10 marked paths, each with their own color and length. The two shortest routes of 1.8 km. (blue) and 5 km. (green) shows the town with its preserved houses and Christ Church, as well as beautiful nature with its stream Vidåen and Galgestrømmen.
The 9 km Galgestrøm trail (pink) extends the trip past the former barracks, the soldiers' forest and the Zeppelin museum. The Galgestrøm trail is a hiking trail that is not suitable for bicycles.
The Digestien (orange) and the Dyrhus-Udbjerg path (red) both have a length of 10 km. and runs southwest around the city to the Lægan pumping station. The red path is mostly asphalt and firm ground. The orange leads on a beautiful nature route on the dyke at Nørresøen to Lægan. Here you will find a visitor center which explains about the area and the pumping station's functions.
The Møgeltønderstien (black) is 11 km. and was used during the Tønder Run. The path primarily has firm ground and goes in the direction of Schackenborg Castle and Møgeltønder. The route can be combined with the red trail.
The Bremsbøl-Sæd trail (yellow) is 12 km. and goes along the railway in the open countryside to the south, and later to the Lægan pumping station to the west. From here the trip goes along the Danish/German border to Bremsbøl lake, where there is an opportunity for bird watching, on to the border town of Sæd and back to Tønder.
Abild-Tved Trail (grey) of 15 km. goes out of the city to the northeast to the town of Abild, and back through the Soldier Forest and Tved plantation to Tønder.
Forest trail (purple) of 17 km. goes north-west to Tved plantation, past the place where the golden horns were found, on to Gallehus forest and from here to Abild and back again via The Soldier Forest.
Korntved-Rørkærstien (brown) of 16 km. runs from Tønder town in a southeast direction in the open countryside. The area is criss-crossed by many drainage ditches, you cross various streams such as Grønåen and Lillestrømmen as well as the Vindtved canal. Here you get an impression of the drainage system in the Tønder area. The route can also be used as a cycle route.
