A Black Sun tour refers to a nature experience, primarily in Denmark, where you see a fascinating natural phenomenon called "Black Sun" or "Murmuration". This typically happens around spring and fall, when large flocks of starlings gather in the thousands and perform impressive formations in the sky. These formations can be so dense and well-choreographed that they appear to form living, flowing patterns or even a black cloud, giving the phenomenon its name.

The trips to the Black Sun phenomena are typically organized by nature guides or tour operators who take the participants to the best observation sites in areas such as marshlands, shallow fjords or wetlands. The aim of the tour is to give participants the opportunity to see this spectacular natural phenomenon up close and learn more about starling behavior and migration.

It is a popular experience for nature and bird enthusiasts, as Sort Sol is not only visually stunning, but also an example of impressive animal behavior and cooperation among the starlings. The tours attract both local and international visitors who want to experience this unique event in nature.

The area around the border between Germany and Denmark in the Tøndermarsken has some of the best conditions in the whole world to experience large and active flocks, and during the season you can almost guarantee to experience just this on a huge scale.
